We normally shed about 100 hairs per day in a very natural process. At any given time about 10% of the hairs on our heads are in a dormant phase. This means they are not growing. The dormant phase lasts about 3 months, after which the hair falls out. A healthy new hair that pushes its way up the follicle to the surface of the scalp quickly replaces the fallen hair. Hair loss in man can be caused by anything that interrupts this process. Here are some causes of hair loss in man.

A common cause of hair loss in man is some type of underlying medical condition that has hair loss as a symptom, such as thyroid imbalance, lupus or diabetes. If you suspect you have a systemic illness or condition, you should see your doctor right away. Be aware of any other symptoms you might have such as constant thirst, excessive appetite or nervousness. Only a doctor can test and treat conditions related to these symptoms. With successful treatment, your hair is likely to regrow.

Click Here To Get More Info On Effective Treatments For Hair Loss In Man!

In some cases, hair loss in man can be caused by an autoimmune reaction that makes the body attack hair follicles, causing hair to fall out. Although imperfectly understood, this condition, known as alopecia areata, causes round patches of hair to be lost. Most people who suffer from alopecia areata are capable of regrowing their hair after proper medical treatment. Typical treatments include topical corticosteroids, ultraviolet light therapy, direct treatment of the follicle with a growth stimulant such as minoxidil, and immunosuppressant drugs.

Physical stress (such as a serious disease) or mental stress (such as depression or anxiety) causes the condition known as telogen effluvium. This condition is difficult to diagnose because very often the hair loss occurs months after the actual stress-causing event. This is due to the life cycle of the hair mentioned earlier. When you undergo physical or mental stress, a high percentage of hair is forced into the dormant phase and will fall out months later, at a time far removed from the stressful event. This type of hair loss in a man is very treatable, once the cause of the stress is determined and dealt with. Often, the hair will spontaneously regrow.

Prescription drugs and vitamin deficiencies can also cause hair loss in man. Vitamin A deficiency, for example, can be responsible for hair loss. Drugs such as those for high blood pressure, anticoagulants and beta-blockers are known to effect the hair. Antidepressants such as ProzacÒ are also culprits. Treatment for stomach ulcers (ZantacÒ), some cancer and thyroid treatments may cause the hair to fall out. Anti-arthritic drugs and gout medications like LoporinÒ and ZyloprimÒ should also be considered as causes.

By far the most common cause hair loss in man is due to the hormone DHT. DHT or dihydrotestosterone attacks susceptible hair follicles, causing subsequent hair to grow in finer and finer. Eventually the hair becomes transparent, falls out and the follicle enters a non-productive state. Fortunately there are many treatments for this condition, including the prescription drug finasteride and the non-prescription drug minoxidil. Finasteride inhibits the formation of DHT and minoxidil can stimulate follicles to produce hair, even in the presence of DHT.

Effective treatments exist for hair loss in man. Consult your doctor and do some research — you’re sure to find a treatment that’s right for you.

Hair loss treatment for a woman is a wide-ranging topic. From herbal teas to hair transplants, women have many options and tools for fighting hair loss. Nearly 40% of women by age 60 experience some form of hair loss — so take heart if you’re among them. Effective treatment is available. The best hair loss treatment for a woman is information. The more you know, the more informed your choice of treatment will be.

There are 3 major types of hair loss in woman: androgenic alopecia, telogen effluvium and alopecia areata. When looking for a hair loss treatment for a woman, it’s important to understand what type of hair loss you have.

Androgenic alopecia occurs because of genetics and hormones. Some women inherit a sensitivity to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This sensitivity extends to the hair follicles on the scalp. A woman’s body has low levels of testosterone in it — produced by the ovaries and adrenal glands. The testosterone is kept in check by estrogen. When estrogen levels fluctuate or decline, testosterone becomes more abundant. This extra testosterone becomes DHT via the action of an enzyme named 5-alpha reductase. When carried to the scalp in the blood, the overabundant DHT attacks genetically-sensitive follicles, causing them to miniaturize and eventually to stop producing hair. Women with this type of hair loss experience diffuse thinning all over the head, but especially at the front, just behind the hairline. Hair loss treatment for a woman with androgenic alopecia often combines estrogen with growth stimulators.

Click Here To Learn More About Hair Loss Treatment For A Woman!

In telogen effluvium a large proportion of the hair falls out at once. This may be related to hormones but also has many other causes. Some women report hair loss when taking birth control pills, others when stopping them. Hair loss can happen after the birth of a baby but is completely temporary. Thyroid imbalance is another very common cause. Hair loss treatment for a woman with thyroid imbalance involves bringing the levels to normal via a course of medical treatment. Hair loss will usually reverse. Nutritional factors, like a vitamin A deficiency, crash dieting, self-starvation or alcoholism can also contribute to telogen effluvium. A combination of a healthy diet and psychological counseling are the appropriate treatments here. Delayed hair loss can occur months after a severe fever or systemic illness like Crohn’s disease (an inflammatory disorder of the gastrointestinal tract), hepatic (liver) disease, renal (kidney) disease, syphilis and diabetes. Medical treatment for these conditions usually reverses hair loss.

There are many drugs that cause telogen effluvium including blood pressure drugs, anti-arthritics, anti-cancer drugs, anti-coagulants, anti-gout medications, anti-depressants, anti-Parkinson drugs, anti-ulcer drugs, beta blockers, bipolar drugs, cholesterol-lowering drugs, heavy metals, steroids and pesticides. Hair loss treatment for a woman taking these drugs usually involves discontinuing the medication and/or switching to a different variety of drug.

Alopecia areata is characterized by a patchy hair loss that occurs suddenly or all at once. Although the exact cause is unknown, researchers think it’s related to an autoimmune response in which the body begins to treat hair follicles as foreign objects and attacks them. Treatment involves steroid injections, immune system enhancers, systemic steroids, minoxidil and cyclosporin. This condition is difficult and hair loss treatment for a woman with alopecia areata should only be undertaken by a physician by a physician, since there may also be underlying medical causes like thyroid disease, Hashimoto’s disease (an autoimmune disorder), pernicious anemia and rheumatoid arthritis.

If you suspect your hair loss is due to any of these causes, remember that hair loss treatment for a woman is widely available. But first see your doctor for a medical diagnosis. Only then will you be able to embark upon an effective course of treatment.

There are many factors related to the cause of hair loss in woman. Over 30 million women in the US suffer from hair loss in one form or another. The main cause of hair loss in woman can be attributed to hormonal changes caused by pregnancy or menopause, or to genetics. In the case of pregnancy, the hair loss is almost always temporary and reverses on its own. On the other hand, hair loss during and after menopause has a complex set of genetic and hormonal interactions that make women as susceptible to hair loss as men.

When a woman begins to lose her hair, it’s often less noticeable than in a man. Men develop true bald spots at the temples, frontal hairline and crown. With the hormonal cause of hair loss in woman, the woman’s hair thins all over her head, but is especially noticeable just behind the frontal hairline in an oval pattern. Rarely are there actual bald spots. When an area on the scalp has lost about half of its hair, balding is more easily seen.

Click Here And Learn The Best Treatment For The Leading Cause Of Hair Loss In Woman!

Genetics also plays a major part in the cause of hair loss in woman. In fact, a combination of genetic and hormonal factors conspires to cause the most common type of hair loss in both men and women, androgenic alopecia. The genetic component involves an inherited sensitivity to the action of a specific hormone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This sensitivity extends to the hair follicles on the scalp. Even women have testosterone in their bodies, produced by the ovaries and adrenal glands. Testosterone in women is held in check by the balancing presence of estrogen. If anything that disrupts the estrogen level downward, like menopause, testosterone gets the upper hand. When an enzyme converts testosterone DHT, the cycle of hair loss begins in both women and men.

Remember those genetically sensitive hair follicles? DHT attacks them, causing the hair they produce to be thinner and thinner until eventually the follicles become inactive and stop growing hair. Hair begins to thin in classic male- or female-pattern-baldness. This cause of hair loss in woman (and man) is treatable. To counter the increased testosterone, a doctor may proscribe estrogen for a woman. This will restore the hormonal balance in the body so hair loss will slow or stop. Along with estrogen, a growth stimulator like minoxidil could be helpful. Minoxidil encourages the attacked follicles to begin producing hair again, even in the presence of DHT.

Two other prescription drugs may help with androgenic alopecia caused by estrogen deficiency and excessive testosterone production. Although they have FDA approval for uses other than hair loss, there is evidence they can be effective as testosterone blockers to eliminate the cause of hair loss in woman. The first drug is spironolactone, sold under the name AldactoneÒ. The second is finasteride, sold under the names PropeciaÒ and ProscarÒ. Although effective, these drugs can have a disastrous effect on a developing fetus, so they should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant.

Androgenic alopecia, a major cause of hair loss in woman, is both a genetic and a hormonal disorder. Effective medical treatments exist. Investigate your options, then see your doctor. Together you can map out a strategy to combat (or even reverse) your hair loss.

Super Grow Professional Home Lasers is considered by many as the best hair growth laser deal in the market today. With its user-friendliness and high customer satisfaction ratings, it may as well be the best and only investment in hair rejuvenation you’ll ever need. By the end of this Super Grow 50 review, you will definitely have a better idea of what these hair lasers are, how they can actually stimulate hair growth, and how long it usually takes for you to see great results, so do read on.

The Super Grow 50 has a hands-free design so you know you won’t have to exert much effort when you use it. Certainly, there are other kinds of Super Grow lasers available for purchase on the official website, such as the Super Grow Handheld Travel Laser, which you can pack away and take with you virtually anywhere you go, and the Super Grow Dome 90, which takes baldness beating to a whole new level. However, the Super Grow 50 could easily be your primary ticket out of permanent baldness.

To understand the concept behind Super Grow products, we must first understand how these lasers work. Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, or LASER as we all refer to it today, is a consistent energy source that emits light beams. Super Grow makes use of “Cold Beam” Low Level Laser Therapy or LLLT, which is FDA-approved and has been widely used for various aesthetic purposes.

Our skin and some underlying tissue that comes in contact with LLLT absorb the photons that are emitted, causing our bodies to respond to what they call the Photo Biostimulation Process. What happens is that it promotes optimum blood flow and cells are restored to their healthy states. Since our skin has high water content, we are able to absorb these red lights easily.

Super Grow 50 and the complete line of Super Grow Professional Home Lasers make use of this light technology to activate the cells in your scalp and stimulate hair root growth. Just imagine how plants respond to the rays of the sun during photosynthesis. In like manner, but in healthier low-dose lights, our hair cells react to LLLT, resulting to a full head of hair in mere weeks.

Compared to your run-of-the-mill hair growth creams and other laser combs, you practically do not have to exert any effort at all when you use Super Grow 50. Instead of daily application or hours upon hours of combing through your scalp, you just sit directly underneath the Super Grow lamp for 20 minutes a day, 3 times a week and you can leave it all up to science from there. True enough, Super Grow 50 is far easier and more effective than other hair growth products out in the market today.

Results do vary from individual to individual, but typically, it takes 2 months, more or less, before you can see and feel the difference. Biologically, the hair growth process doesn’t take overnight. Off the bat, other products that claim instant hair renewal could very well be shams, so be extra wary.

If you’ve been going bald for years, if you’ve tried almost everything to grow back your hair but failed miserably, if you want a product that truly works, then Super Grow 50 is just the thing you’re looking for. Purchasing any of the Super Grow laser products will definitely prove to be a long-term investment, so don’t pass up the opportunity.

To sum up this Super Grow 50 review, it just has to be said that other hair growth products have nothing compared to this brilliantly designed innovation.
Natural hair loss remedies depend largely on herbal treatments or topical sprays. Many herbs have medicinal properties similar to prescription drugs. Take saw palmetto, for example. Common treatments for thinning hair involve blocking the hormone DHT (dihydrotestosterone). Saw palmetto is one of several natural hair loss remedies that may accomplish this blockage. If DHT is blocked, the hair follicle will continue to produce strong, thick hair. Saw palmetto can be applied topically by using shampoos, conditioners or serums. You can also take the herb as a dietary supplement.

In the wide variety of natural hair loss remedies, green tea is one you may not have heard of. Green tea contains catechins. Catechins are potent antioxidants that provide health benefits beyond their ability to neutralize free radicals. With their ability to suppress the action of a key enzyme involved in male pattern hair loss (type II 5-alpha-reductase), green tea catechins are powerful allies in your fight against hair loss. Green tea can be drunk as a beverage or taken as a dietary supplement.

Stinging nettle is another possible solution for baldness or thinning hair. Also thought to block the precursor enzyme to DHT, among natural hair loss remedies, nettle is sold under various brand names. One product is a blend of two clinically proven proprietary extracts, pygeum and nettles, that work together to combat male pattern baldness. Another product contains both nettles and saw palmetto, a combination that may be as powerful. Most remedies of this type are easy-to-use dietary supplements.

If you don’t want to use herbs and are still looking for natural hair loss remedies, consider a cosmetic spray like MegaThik or DermMatch. These products are applied to the skin in the form of a spray. The spray coats your hair, making thin hairs temporarily appear thicker. The fortified hairs stand up, giving improved volume and fullness. Both products coat your skin to match your hair color, so patchiness just disappears. Loaded with conditioners and moisturizers, these sprays leave your hair full, thick and manageable. But they are only temporary solutions.

For a permanent solution, you’ll have to look elsewhere. There are literally hundreds of natural hair loss remedies. Some are based on folklore and anecdote while others have clinical studies to back them up. How can you learn about these solutions without spending a lot of time doing research and a lot of money trying products that may or may not be effective? Take a look at http://www.thinningscalp.com. It’s a valuable resource you should explore. Here you’ll find straight talk about hair loss with no-nonsense recommendations that really work. You’ll also find a remarkable electronic book, Alternative Treatments For Hair Loss.

Alternative Treatments For Hair Loss contains all the information you’ll need to take meaningful steps to slow your hair loss and in many cases, regrow your hair. The book includes low-cost alternatives to expensive treatments and supplements. It teaches you to use non-invasive techniques like exercise and even the power of your mind, the ultimate in natural hair loss remedies! You’re not alone in your battle — at http://www.thinningscalp.com there are valuable allies and little-known solutions that just might help you succeed in a lasting and permanent way.

Thyroid hair loss can be caused by unbalanced activity of the thyroid gland. Known as hypothyroidism, this condition is responsible for a wide variety of symptoms, including thyroid hair loss.

Hypothyroidism or under active thyroid causes body functions of slow down. Symptoms are not always easy to identify and are often mistaken for depression. Some people, especially older people, may appear confused, forgetful, or demented — signs that can easily be mistaken for Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia. Other symptoms include weight gain, carpal tunnel syndrome, constipation, hoarse voice and puffy face. Many people become sensitive to cold and their hands may tingle or hurt. A major symptom relates to the hair. In thyroid hair loss the hair becomes sparse, coarse and dry. If left untreated, hypothyroidism may eventually cause anemia, low body temperature, and heart failure.

Click Here And Learn What You Can About Thyroid Hair Loss!

Only a doctor can tell if you are experiencing thyroid hair loss. There is a simple blood test that measures the level of thyroid-stimulating hormone in the blood. Because under active thyroid is so common in older people, many doctors recommend performing the test every 2 years for people over 55. In some cases, another blood test may be necessary to measure the T4 hormone. If T4 is low, hypothyroidism is confirmed.

Treatment involves carefully regulated doses of thyroid hormone to start. Too much hormone may cause unpleasant side effects, so doctors are normally very conservative when starting patients on treatment. The dose is gradually increased until the level of hormone in the patient’s blood returns to normal. Only then may thyroid hair loss begin to reverse.

Because hypothyroidism is common in older people, men who are experiencing hair loss may not seek medical advice, thinking that their condition is age-related. Instead, they may try over-the-counter treatments like minoxidil or saw palmetto. Unfortunately, these products will not work on a systemic illness like hypothyroidism that causes thyroid hair loss. Minoxidil and saw palmetto block the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) that attacks the hair follicles. Sensitivity to DHT is a genetic predisposition and unless you have inherited it, DHT blockers will not help your hair loss.

There are vitamins, minerals and herbs that may help to stimulate the thyroid into producing an adequate amount of hormone. Once the body is back into equilibrium, thyroid hair loss may be cured. Look for supplements rich in the B-vitamins niacin, thiamine and riboflavin. The minerals magnesium, zinc, potassium and manganese work in concert with vitamins, enzymes and co-enzymes to help bring hormone levels into better balance. The plants kelp and licorice contain substances that may have a positive effect on thyroid function.

Not sure where you should go from here? First, it’s essential that you see your doctor to determine whether the cause of your hair loss is a medical condition like hypothyroidism.
Next, learn to see your hair loss in context — meaning that there could be a variety of factors that account for it, not just limited to thyroid hair loss. You need a comprehensive battle plan to fight hair loss and you’ll find it in an amazing book named Hair Loss No More by Jonathon E. Phillips.
The right hair loss medication can definitely help prevent or stop hair loss. In some cases, hair can actually be regrown. There are 5 basic categories of hair loss medication: DHT inhibitors, growth stimulators, SODs, anti-inflammatory drugs and antiandrogens. Depending on the type of hair loss you are experiencing, you may need to use one or more of these products to see results.

Click Here To Discover The Best Hair Loss Medication For You!

DHT inhibitors block the action of the hormone dihydrotestosterone directly or indirectly. Indirect DHT blockers usually act on the enzyme 5-alpha reductase that converts the hormone testosterone to DHT. In either case, these drugs stop the action of DHT on genetically susceptible follicles, deterring hair loss at the source. Taken orally or applied topically, this type of hair loss medication is clinically proven to work for a large percentage of sufferers. Brand names to look for are Propecia®, Revivogen® and Crinagen®. Propecia®, generic name finasteride, is an oral medication and is available by prescription only. Revivogen® and Crinagen® are topically-applied products that do not require a prescription.

Growth stimulators are another class of hair loss medication. These products treat the symptom — hair loss — without concern for the underlying cause. For example, a growth stimulator may cause a follicle that is under attack by DHT to produce hair despite the attack. Although cosmetic in nature, this type of treatment is known to be effective. Perhaps the best-known growth stimulator is sold under the brand name Rogaine®. Folligen® and Tricomin® are two other brands to consider. All 3 products are topically applied and do not require a prescription.

SODs, also known as super oxide dismutase, work to control the immune response that occurs when DHT attacks a follicle, making the follicle seem to the body to be an attacking foreign substance. SODs also have growth stimulation properties, so they are a two-in-one type of hair loss medication. SODs are sold under the brand names Proxiphen® and Proxiphen-N®. Folligen® and Tricomin® also fall into this category.

The anti-inflammatory type of hair loss medication is used to control the symptoms which accompany the immune response, such as flaking, itching, redness and swelling. Nizoral®,
T-Gel® and Betadine® are examples of non-prescription anti-inflammatories. A doctor may prescribe topical corticosteroids in medium to very high strength. Steroid injections are another possible medical treatment.

Antiandrogens work to stop DHT (once it is formed) from binding to the androgen receptor, another stage in the process that attacks the follicle and ultimately leads to hair loss. Antiandrogen drugs intervene in the attack and prevent the damage normally caused by DHT.
Hair loss medication products with antiandrogenic properties include Revivogen®, Crinagen®,
Aldactone® (spironolactone), Nizoral® and Proxiphen®. Aldactone® requires a doctor’s prescription.

Before you begin taking any kind of hair loss medication, it’s important to see your doctor first. None of the products mentioned here will help you if your hair loss is caused by a treatable medical condition like thyroid imbalance or diabetes. Only a doctor can test for these and other diseases. To avoid disappointment, over-medication and possible side effects, you should seek sound medical advice.

Many men suffer from hair loss, but the symptoms can vary. It’s important to understand the underlying causes when looking at hair loss symptoms. Without a diagnosis, effective treatment will be impossible.

Perhaps the best-known hair loss symptoms in men involve the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The hair loss symptoms are a gradually receding hairline and loss of hair at the vertex (crown). Hair begins to thin at the temples and frontal hairline. The top of the head also suffers thinning at the same time. Both areas eventually converge, leaving only a fringe of hair around the sides and back of the head. This is called “male pattern hair loss” or androgenic alopecia. This is an inherited condition caused by a genetic predisposition to DHT. DHT attacks the hair follicle, causing it to miniaturize and produce progressively finer hair. Eventually the hair becomes transparent and the follicle stops producing hair altogether.

Click Here To Better Understand Hair Loss Symptoms And What You Can Do To Stop It!

If you lose hair suddenly from small patches on the head, you may be suffering from alopecia areata. These circular patches are thought to be caused by an auto-immune mechanism that causes the white blood cells to attack the hair follicle. The follicle enters a dormant phase and eventually the hair will fall out. The skin where the hair is lost is soft and smooth. Hair loss is sudden and can occur overnight. These hair loss symptoms must be medically treated.

Other hair loss symptoms are related to certain forms of medical treatment like chemotherapy. Hair loss is rapid and complete — the hair comes out in clumps. Fortunately this type of hair loss is temporary. Other causes for temporary hair loss are overactive thyroid, underactive thyroid, diabetes, lupus or anemia. Although the hair loss is temporary, the hair will not regrow unless the underlying cause is diagnosed and treated.

Dry hair in poor condition with many broken hairs and split ends can also result in hair loss symptoms like falling out or breakage. Due to chemical treatments like coloring or permanents, hairstyles that pull the hair tight like braids or excessive heat from hair appliances, this type of hair loss is also temporary. If you have a lot of broken hair shafts, your hair may seem to be thinning when actually it is just damaged. Other causes of broken hair include fungal infection and nutritional deficiency.

Telegen effluvium has dual hair loss symptoms: slow growth and diffuse loss. Severe stress causes a large percentage of the follicles to enter a dormant phase for 2 – 3 months, after which they fall out. This condition is sometimes difficult to diagnose because the cause and the effect are far removed from each other.

Medications can cause hair to thin, break or fall out. Drugs like those for arthritis, high blood pressure, gout, depression and ulcers cause these hair loss symptoms. Heavy metals like mercury, high doses of vitamin A, pesticides and birth control pills can also cause these symptoms.

Given the myriad symptoms and related causes for hair loss, it’s best to see you doctor to get a specific diagnosis for hair loss symptoms. Only then will you be able to choose an effective treatment.

There are 5 basic categories of alopecia treatments: dietary supplements, topically applied treatments, systemic medications, hair transplantation and non-surgical hair replacement.

Dietary supplements generally fall into the “natural remedy” class of hair loss treatments. Some types of hair loss are caused by an overabundance of a hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT attacks the hair follicle, causing the individual hair to grow in thinner and thinner, until the follicle eventually stops producing hair. DHT causes the most common type of hair loss, commonly referred to as “male pattern baldness.”

Click Here To Discover The Best Alopecia Treatment For You!

If the action of DHT can be slowed or stopped, there’s a better chance hair will be retained. Among dietary supplements, saw palmetto is a very popular DHT blocker. Other supplements to consider are based on either green tea or stinging nettle. If possible, try to find a product that combines 2 or more of these together. You can, of course, take green tea in its traditional form as a beverage. Alopecia treatments of this type are easy to use, non-invasive and completely natural.

Topically applied alopecia treatments can be natural or man-made. Saw palmetto, for example, can be applied topically by using shampoos, conditioners or serums. Perhaps the best-known topical remedy is minoxidil, sold under the brand name Rogaine®. Originally a prescription drug but now widely available over the counter, minoxidil has been clinically proven to slow down or halt hair loss. In some cases, hair actually regrows. Another DHT blocker, minoxidil must be used on a daily basis to remain effective. It comes in 2 strengths, 2% and 5%.

Among systemic medications, the prescription drug finesteride, sold under the name Propecia®, has been successful. The usual dosage is 1 mg taken once per day. This medicine is most effective for men with thinning hair, not men who are bald or nearly bald. Finesteride is a chemical DHT blocker, clinically proven among alopecia treatments to slow or stop hair loss. Treatment with finesteride takes time, up to a year. You must continue taking the drug or the benefits will reverse themselves, again within a year.

If DHT blockers or other alopecia treatments aren’t effective for you, consider hair transplantation. This is a surgical process where healthy hair, follicle and all, is taken from an area of the scalp where hair is plentiful and relocated to an area where hair is thinning, such as the hairline. A good surgeon can significantly restore your hairline, giving it a completely natural look. Done as an outpatient procedure, hair transplantation is an artistic process as well as a medical one.

Non-surgical hair replacement involves wigs, hair pieces and the hair weaving process. In hair weaving, individual synthetic strands are attached to existing hairs, again in an artistic manner. Hair weaves are virtually undetectable but do require maintenance every 3 – 5 weeks. You can swim and shower with a weave, just as you would with natural hair. Hair weaves are popular alopecia treatments among men who want more volume and fullness than they could get from transplants.

Choose among alopecia treatments carefully. Be sure that what you choose has a proven record of reasonable success.

Hair loss menopause is a widely experienced side effect of the so-called “change of life.” Hair loss menopause is a complex process that causes significant changes in a woman’s body. During menopause estrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate, causing imbalances. These imbalances can result in a sensitivity to testosterone which in turn can lead to hormone-related female pattern hair loss. Hair begins to recede at the temples and thinning may be seen as a diffused general pattern over the entire scalp. Unbalanced by estrogen, testosterone occurring in the scalp is acted upon by the enzyme 5-alpha reductase and becomes dihydrotestosterone (DHT).

Click Here For Some Helpful Solutions To Hair Loss Menopause!

DHT attacks the hair follicle, causing it to miniaturize and produce thinner and thinner hair. Eventually the hair becomes transparent and falls out. At this point, the follicle ceases to produce any hair at all. Hair loss menopause at mid-life is more likely to be genetically caused than related to diet or lifestyle. Approximately half of all menopausal women will experience some degree of hair loss. Two-thirds of post-menopausal women will have to contend with bald spots or thinning hair.

Hair loss in women was once understood than hair loss in men. But it appears to be a much more complex process. There is evidence that other types of enzymes, in addition to 5-alpha reductase, are involved in hair loss menopause. Hormone receptors and hormone blockers may also play a part. There are significant differences between the pattern on hair loss between men and women. Men lose their hair in specific areas at the temples and crown. Female hair loss encircles the whole top of the head — it’s diffuse. The role of genetics in male balding is well understood — less so in females. In cases where the hair loss is androgenic — caused by male hormones like testosterone — there is treatment available.

One of the most popular treatments is minoxidil, an FDA-approved topical treatment that blocks the action of DHT on the follicles, preserving the hair. Since DHT causes the follicles to miniaturize, another benefit of minoxidil is that it lengthens the follicle and makes it larger. This can extend the growth phase of the follicle. Sold under the brand name Rogaine®, minoxidil comes in two strengths, 2% and 5%. The 2% strength is not effective for female pattern hair loss, but if you use the 5% solution, you may experience some irritation of the scalp, itching or dryness. Many doctors have customized versions of minoxidil available for hair loss menopause that help to minimize discomfort and irritation.

Women may also benefit from the prescription drug finesteride for treatment of hair loss menopause. Sold under the name Propecia®, the drug was originally intended to treat prostate disease in men but was found to have benefits related to male pattern hair loss caused by DHT. Finesteride is an oral medication that works by inhibiting the action of the 5-alpha reductase enzyme, thus blocking the production of DHT. If used long enough and in high enough doses, both minoxidil and finesteride can help regrow hair.

Women should also be aware that doctors who treat hair loss have special formulations and preparations that can reduce side effects. These formulations may also contain vitamins and minerals known to be beneficial to the hair, like the B-complex, zinc and biotin. Now that the causes of hair loss menopause are better understood, effective treatments are widely available.
