If your hair is thinning or falling out, you’re likely to seek out hair loss help in one form or another. Hormones, DHT blockers, growth stimulators, SODs and antiandrogens are medically-oriented and often effective methods of hair loss help. But is there anything you can do on a more basic level combat hair loss and even encourage hair to regrow? The answer is a resounding yes. By making a few simple changes in your life, you’ll be on the way to thicker, healthier hair. Two of the major actions you take are related to nutritional supplements and herbs. Here’s some information on both.

An easy first step you can take for hair loss help is to eat a balanced diet rich in fruits and vegetables. Look for foods and nutritional supplements that include biotin, silicon, copper and zinc. Also important are essential fatty acids, B-vitamins, vitamin C, and vitamin E. In addition, there are herbs that may prove beneficial. Taken together, these substances can provide an optimal environment for hair growth.

Click Here For Hair Loss Help Tips And Facts!

Biotin is essential for hair health and may actually help prevent hair loss. Good sources of biotin are brown rice, soy products, lentils, oats and sunflower seeds. For more hair loss help, silicon aids in hair strength. Oats, leafy green vegetables, bell peppers, soy products and brown rice are foods rich in silicon. Zinc enhances the immune function and may help your body fight off any condition that causes hair loss due to an immune reaction. Nuts and seeds contain zinc, especially pecans, peanuts and sunflower seeds. Other zinc-rich foods are fish, oysters, sardines, seafood, lima beans, mushrooms and egg yolk. Copper deficiency can cause osteoporosis, anemia and baldness. Teamed with zinc, copper may help hair to grow. Foods high in copper include barley, beans avocado, radishes, broccoli, beets, almonds and other nuts, salmon and seafood.

Essential fatty acids are needed for good hair texture and to prevent brittleness and dryness. Fish are the best sources, especially salmon. B-vitamins are important for hair growth. Many foods contain B-vitamins including eggs, whole grains, fish, tomatoes, potatoes, soybeans, dates, raisins, prunes, carrots, spinach, avocados, leafy greens and poultry. Vitamin C will aid in scalp circulation. For vitamin C, eat citrus fruits, strawberries, asparagus, avocados, pineapple, radishes, spinach, mustard greens, watercress and spinach. Like vitamin C, vitamin E helps circulation in the scalp. Foods that contain vitamin E are cold-pressed vegetable oils, dark green leafy vegetables, soybeans, sweet potatoes, watercress, dried beans and peas, and wheat germ. Hair loss help is as close as your refrigerator, if you choose foods high in these vitamins, minerals and nutrients.

Hair loss help can also come in the form of herbs. The herb horsetail is a good source of silica. Zinc can be found in chamomile, eyebright, fennel, nettle, parsley and wild yam. Many herbs contain B-vitamins including chamomile, eyebright, fennel, nettle, oat straw, parsley and peppermint. For vitamin C, look to chamomile, eyebright, fennel, nettle, oat straw, rose hips and peppermint. Herbs that contain vitamin E include flaxseed, nettle, oat straw, raspberry leaf and rose hips.

You should always see your doctor about hair loss because there might be a medical reason like diabetes or thyroid imbalance that’s causing it. But hair loss help in the form of good nutrition and nutritional supplements will compliment any other treatment you may undertake.

T here are several herbs for hair growth that may be effective in helping your hair to grow, re-grow, or to help you keep the hair you have. If you prefer to take a natural approach and don’t like the idea of prescription drugs or synthetic chemicals, read on to find out about what’s available in herbs for hair growth.

Click Here And Discover What Herbs For Hair Growth You Can Use!

For men who are losing their hair due a genetic disposition that causes the body to overproduce a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT), the herbs saw palmetto and nettle may be beneficial. DHT attacks the hair follicle, causing it to miniaturize and produce finer and finer hair. Eventually the hair becomes transparent and the follicle becomes inactive. Saw palmetto and nettle contain natural DHT blockers that help to neutralize the effects of DHT on the follicle.
Powerful herbs for hair growth, saw palmetto and nettle can be taken as dietary supplements or applied topically in the form of shampoos, conditioners or serums.

If you’re just looking for natural remedies, not DHT blockers, there are a number of options available to you. Look for products that contain some or all of the following: fenugreek, thyme, sage, ivy burdock and horsetail (great for falling hair). You can take these herbs for hair growth internally as supplements or use them externally in shampoos and conditioners.

The Chinese use several herbs to promote healthy hair or discourage hair loss and thinning, including fleece flower root, Szechuan lovage and hoelen mushrooms. Also important Chinese herbs for hair growth are treatments made with psoralea seeds, mulberries and oyster shell. Look for supplements with these ingredients.

There are many other herbs which stimulate hair growth in various ways. For example, you can rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and sage tea to help it grow. Catmint or chamomile infusions used as a final rinse can also help with hair loss. Silica helps to keep hair strong. Horsetail is a good source of silica. Steep horsetail in hot water and add the infusion to baby shampoo. Massage your scalp regularly with tinctures of nettle, birch, horsetail and rosemary to stimulate hair growth. Arnica, marigold, rosemary, or southernwood are other useful herbs for hair growth. For best results, massage an infused oil into the scalp.

Herbs for hair growth get confusing, don’t they? How do you know what to buy in what form or dosage? How often do you apply it? Are there any side effects? To answer some of these questions, check out the ebook at www.thinningscalp.com. Here you’ll find an amazing book named Alternative Treatments for Hair Loss that’s full of proven yet economical treatments for hair loss and hair growth. With a single purchase you’ll get not one, but many solutions for increased hair growth and decreased hair loss. The book is 120 pages long and takes a holistic approach to hair loss and hair growth. It isn’t always just a matter of taking a pill or using a topically applied product.
There are many causes of female hair loss including genetics, stress, pregnancy, alopecia areata, drugs and supplements, disease and cosmetic treatments. In order to treat female hair loss, you first have to pinpoint the cause.

Click Here And Get Valuable Info On Female Hair Loss!

Genetics is the most common cause of female hair loss. This condition, called androgenic alopecia, causes women to have diffuse hair thinning over their entire scalp. Androgenic alopecia, also called female pattern baldness is responsible for about 50 percent of hair loss experienced by women. In this condition, follicles are sensitive to the action of hormones called androgens that attack and eventually cause the follicle to stop producing hair. Fortunately, there are drugs that can block the activity of androgens and prevent hair loss. Examples of anti-androgenic drugs are flutamide, nilutamide, bicalutimade, spironolactone and finesteride. These drugs have powerful side effects, including the ability to feminize a male fetus if taken during pregnancy. Another treatment that works for women is estrogen-dominant birth control pills.

Another cause of female hair loss is severe physical or emotional stress. This condition is called telogen effluvium and together with genetic causes, accounts for 95 percent of all hair loss. In telogen effluvium, the stress forces the follicles into a resting or dormant phase, causing the hair to fall out in clumps. The hair may continue to fall out for months. Telogen effluvium is usually reversible, if the underlying cause of the stress is diagnosed and treated. Protein and iron deficiencies can also cause this type of hair loss, so be sure you eat a healthy, balanced diet.

Some women experience hair loss after giving birth. This is a form of delayed telogen effluvium and usually stops within 4 to 8 months. In some cases, pregnancy will cause permanent changes to the hair’s thickness, color or texture. This type of female hair loss is also treatable and is almost always temporary.

Hair pulling or trichotillomania is not a physical disorder but rather a psychological one. People at risk for this kind of female hair loss are those who are depressed, have low self-esteem or are prone to anxiety. Again, by treating the underlying cause, the hair loss can be reversed. Effective treatment may require psychological counseling and dermatological testing.

Alopecia areata is patchy hair loss that starts with small areas that become larger and larger. Researchers think this cause of female hair loss is an autoimmune disorder where the follicles become inflamed, starved of nutrients, and eventually stop producing hair. There is no single, successful treatment for this condition. In some cases oral steroids have helped, with or without topical minoxidil. Drugs that enhance the immune system can also be effective.

Perhaps one of the best-known causes for female hair loss results from drugs like those used in chemotherapy. Known as anagen effluvium, this type of hair loss is usually sudden and complete. Once chemotherapy stops, the hair grows back on its own. Other drugs that can cause hair loss are cholesterol-lowering medications, antidepressants, pain killers, medication for high blood pressure and blood thinners and some kinds of birth control pills. Female hair loss of this type can be stopped or controlled by changing to a different medication, for example, to an estrogen-dominant birth control pill. Also be careful when taking dietary supplements. Massive doses of vitamin A and the herb astragalus are known to cause hair loss.

Many diseases, including thyroid imbalance and bacterial infections can cause female hair loss. Other culprits are fungal infections, sebhorrea and psoriasis. These conditions are often treated with antibiotics, antifungals, steroids, medicated shampoos and anti-androgens. Thyroid imbalance requires the hormone levels to be adjusted up or down over time.

Cosmetic treatments and certain hairstyles such as pigtails or cornrows, or even tight rollers can also trigger female hair loss. Permanents (whether to straighten or curl), colorants and bleaches will weaken the hair and may cause it to fall out. In rare cases, an allergic reaction to dyes or colorants will induce thinning or hair loss.

The first step in treating your female hair loss is to see your doctor for an examination, tests and diagnosis. There’s no point in trying any solution until you know what’s causing your condition. The answer might be deceptively simple or more complex. Only a doctor can tell you for sure.

There are many hair loss remedies on the market — from inexpensive herbal treatments to pricey surgical procedures. There are lotions, potions, vitamins and serums — some require a doctor’s prescription while others don’t. Read on to find out more about hair loss remedies.

Before exploring hair loss remedies you should consult your doctor. If the cause of your hair loss is systemic, only a doctor can diagnose it. Thyroid problems, for example, can cause serious hair loss, as can anemia, lupus and kidney and liver disease. You need to rule out medical reasons for your hair loss in order to start successful treatment. Be sure to tell the doctor about any medicines you are taking, as these can also cause hair loss. If you are under stress, hair loss can result. In men, hair loss can be caused by sensitivity to a hormone called dihydrotestosterone (DHT) and is usually referred to as “male pattern baldness.” Once a cause is determined, you can begin treating the condition.

Click Here To Find Out More About The Best Hair Loss Remedies!

The most common type of hair loss in men is DHT-related. The body overproduces DHT and the DHT attacks hair follicles that are genetically predisposed to be sensitive to the hormone. DHT causes the follicle to miniaturize and produce thinner and finer hair. Eventually the hair becomes transparent and soon the follicle stops producing hair. There are several hair loss remedies for male pattern baldness.

Minoxidil, finesteride and saw palmetto are popular hair loss remedies for DHT-related hair loss. Minoxidil is sold under the brand name Rogaine® and is widely available without a prescription. Minoxidil is topically applied and blocks the action of DHT on the follicle. Finesteride is a prescription drug marketed under the name Propecia®. Finesteride blocks the action of an enzyme that contributes to the overproduction of DHT. Saw palmetto is an herbal treatment that blocks DHT like minoxidil.

Maybe you aren’t ready for a medical or quasi-medical treatment like those above. There are some other things you can do. Choose the right hair care products. Be sure they rinse out completely and don’t weigh the hair down, causing it to appear even thinner. Avoid prolonged blow-drying on high heat — this can cause brittleness and breakage. Dyes, permanents and chemical relaxers can also damage the hair. Protect what you have by avoiding heat and harsh chemicals — one of the easiest hair loss remedies to implement.

Another solution is a temporary thickener/colorant like MegaTHIK or DermMatch. Both products are topically applied and contain thickeners to coat and plump up the hair you have. By coloring the scalp to match your hair, patchy bald areas can be disguised. With no harsh chemicals or additives, MegaTHIK and DermMatch are completely safe and non-invasive. They are even safe to use with other hair loss remedies like Rogaine®. You can find these products at www.megathik.com and www.dermatch.com

There are 5 basic categories of alopecia treatments: dietary supplements, topically applied treatments, systemic medications, hair transplantation and non-surgical hair replacement.

Dietary supplements generally fall into the “natural remedy” class of hair loss treatments. Some types of hair loss are caused by an overabundance of a hormone called DHT (dihydrotestosterone). DHT attacks the hair follicle, causing the individual hair to grow in thinner and thinner, until the follicle eventually stops producing hair. DHT causes the most common type of hair loss, commonly referred to as “male pattern baldness.”

Click Here To Discover The Best Alopecia Treatment For You!

If the action of DHT can be slowed or stopped, there’s a better chance hair will be retained. Among dietary supplements, saw palmetto is a very popular DHT blocker. Other supplements to consider are based on either green tea or stinging nettle. If possible, try to find a product that combines 2 or more of these together. You can, of course, take green tea in its traditional form as a beverage. Alopecia treatments of this type are easy to use, non-invasive and completely natural.

Topically applied alopecia treatments can be natural or man-made. Saw palmetto, for example, can be applied topically by using shampoos, conditioners or serums. Perhaps the best-known topical remedy is minoxidil, sold under the brand name Rogaine®. Originally a prescription drug but now widely available over the counter, minoxidil has been clinically proven to slow down or halt hair loss. In some cases, hair actually regrows. Another DHT blocker, minoxidil must be used on a daily basis to remain effective. It comes in 2 strengths, 2% and 5%.

Among systemic medications, the prescription drug finesteride, sold under the name Propecia®, has been successful. The usual dosage is 1 mg taken once per day. This medicine is most effective for men with thinning hair, not men who are bald or nearly bald. Finesteride is a chemical DHT blocker, clinically proven among alopecia treatments to slow or stop hair loss. Treatment with finesteride takes time, up to a year. You must continue taking the drug or the benefits will reverse themselves, again within a year.

If DHT blockers or other alopecia treatments aren’t effective for you, consider hair transplantation. This is a surgical process where healthy hair, follicle and all, is taken from an area of the scalp where hair is plentiful and relocated to an area where hair is thinning, such as the hairline. A good surgeon can significantly restore your hairline, giving it a completely natural look. Done as an outpatient procedure, hair transplantation is an artistic process as well as a medical one.

Non-surgical hair replacement involves wigs, hair pieces and the hair weaving process. In hair weaving, individual synthetic strands are attached to existing hairs, again in an artistic manner. Hair weaves are virtually undetectable but do require maintenance every 3 – 5 weeks. You can swim and shower with a weave, just as you would with natural hair. Hair weaves are popular alopecia treatments among men who want more volume and fullness than they could get from transplants.

Choose among alopecia treatments carefully. Be sure that what you choose has a proven record of reasonable success.

Many men suffer from hair loss, but the symptoms can vary. It’s important to understand the underlying causes when looking at hair loss symptoms. Without a diagnosis, effective treatment will be impossible.

Perhaps the best-known hair loss symptoms in men involve the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT). The hair loss symptoms are a gradually receding hairline and loss of hair at the vertex (crown). Hair begins to thin at the temples and frontal hairline. The top of the head also suffers thinning at the same time. Both areas eventually converge, leaving only a fringe of hair around the sides and back of the head. This is called “male pattern hair loss” or androgenic alopecia. This is an inherited condition caused by a genetic predisposition to DHT. DHT attacks the hair follicle, causing it to miniaturize and produce progressively finer hair. Eventually the hair becomes transparent and the follicle stops producing hair altogether.

If you lose hair suddenly from small patches on the head, you may be suffering from alopecia areata. These circular patches are thought to be caused by an auto-immune mechanism that causes the white blood cells to attack the hair follicle. The follicle enters a dormant phase and eventually the hair will fall out. The skin where the hair is lost is soft and smooth. Hair loss is sudden and can occur overnight. These hair loss symptoms must be medically treated.

Other hair loss symptoms are related to certain forms of medical treatment like chemotherapy. Hair loss is rapid and complete — the hair comes out in clumps. Fortunately this type of hair loss is temporary. Other causes for temporary hair loss are overactive thyroid, underactive thyroid, diabetes, lupus or anemia. Although the hair loss is temporary, the hair will not regrow unless the underlying cause is diagnosed and treated.

Dry hair in poor condition with many broken hairs and split ends can also result in hair loss symptoms like falling out or breakage. Due to chemical treatments like coloring or permanents, hairstyles that pull the hair tight like braids or excessive heat from hair appliances, this type of hair loss is also temporary. If you have a lot of broken hair shafts, your hair may seem to be thinning when actually it is just damaged. Other causes of broken hair include fungal infection and nutritional deficiency.

Telegen effluvium has dual hair loss symptoms: slow growth and diffuse loss. Severe stress causes a large percentage of the follicles to enter a dormant phase for 2 – 3 months, after which they fall out. This condition is sometimes difficult to diagnose because the cause and the effect are far removed from each other.

Medications can cause hair to thin, break or fall out. Drugs like those for arthritis, high blood pressure, gout, depression and ulcers cause these hair loss symptoms. Heavy metals like mercury, high doses of vitamin A, pesticides and birth control pills can also cause these symptoms.

Given the myriad symptoms and related causes for hair loss, it’s best to see you doctor to get a specific diagnosis for hair loss symptoms. Only then will you be able to choose an effective treatment.

It’s not just men who experience hormone-related hair loss. Women’s hair loss can also be cause by hormones. In men, overproduction of male hormones or androgens has a disastrous effect on the hair follicles. This is called androgenic alopecia and results in permanent hair loss. Women can also suffer from this condition, although they rarely become bald. In women, diffuse, over-all hair thinning occurs, generally most noticeable around the forehead and crown of the scalp. The individual hair shaft’s diameter decreases as well. But how can androgens (male hormones) affect women’s hair loss?

Click Here To Learn More About Women’s Hair Loss!

Female pattern hair loss usually begins with the onset of menopause. Estrogen levels begin to decline and it is estrogen that is a critical factor here. Estrogen blocks the action of the hormone indirectly responsible for women’s hair loss. Testosterone is present even in women’s bodies. Without significant levels of estrogen to inhibit it, testosterone is converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) by the action of an enzyme named 5-alpha reductase. Some hair follicles are especially susceptible to the action of DHT. When attacked by DHT, the growth cycle of the follicle is disrupted. It begins to shrink and miniaturize, producing thinner and thinner hair with each cycle. Eventually, the hair falls out and does not regrow.

In a normal scalp, when a hair falls out and a new young hair pushes up from the base of the follicle to replace it. Under the action of DHT the follicle ceases to produce hair. To stop or reverse women’s hair loss, either the action of DHT needs to be blocked or the follicle needs to be stimulated to overcome the attack and regrow hair. For women, blocking DHT is accomplished by estrogen replacement therapy — typically by prescribing an estrogen-dominant birth control pill. But estrogen can put some women at risk for breast cancer. If you don’t want to go the hormone route, Rogaine® works to stimulate the follicles. Known as a “potassium channel opener,” the main ingredient in Rogaine® is minoxidil, a drug clinically proven to stimulate hair growth. Minoxidil is topically applied and you must continue using it or the benefits will reverse.

In pregnancy-related women’s hair loss, estrogen is also involved. During pregnancy, estrogen levels rise. Researchers think that higher levels of this hormone prolong the hair’s growing or anagen phase, preventing the woman from shedding any hairs. Pregnant women often report thicker, healthier hair during this time. After the baby is delivered and the estrogen levels in the body begin to return to normal, the abnormally-prolonged growing phase of the hair naturally terminates. The result is that a large proportion of hairs enter the dormant or telogen phase. The hair stops growing, enters an inactive state and eventually falls out. Fortunately this condition is temporary. Your hair will appear thin for a few months, but eventually the follicles will produce strong new hair.

Women’s hair loss in the case of menopause or pregnancy is either temporary or treatable. Recognized and tested solutions exist for hormone-related hair loss in women.

Herbs have a long historical record of their effects and applications. The best-known herbal home remedy for hair loss is saw palmetto. Saw palmetto is a natural DHT blocker. DHT (dihydrotestosterone) is a male hormone that attacks hair follicles that are genetically susceptible. Eventually the follicle stops producing hair. Saw palmetto blocks the action of DHT, protecting the follicle and saving the hair. This herb can be taken as a dietary supplement or used topically in a shampoo, conditioner or serum. Other herbs that may be beneficial are horsetail, juniper berries, white willow bark, rosemary leaves, burdock root and mullein leaves.

Enzymes also play a role in baldness or thinning hair. An enzyme named 5-alpha reductase is needed by the body to produce DHT. If the activity of this enzyme is inhibited, less or no DHT is produced, fewer follicles are attacked and more hair is preserved. Along with green tea, stinging nettle is a powerful herbal home remedy that blocks 5-alpha reductase activity. The catechins in green tea are strong antioxidants that benefit the entire body. Green tea can be drunk as a beverage or taken as a dietary supplement. Stinging nettle, when combined with saw palmetto or green tea, can be an especially potent dietary supplement that inhibits 5-alpha reductase.

Another home remedy for hair loss involves vitamins and minerals. The B-complex vitamins figure prominently here, along with vitamins A and D. Look for supplements with choline and biotin. Iodine may be beneficial, as well as iron, magnesium, manganese, silica, sulfur, and zinc. There are many specialized vitamin formulations made for the hair.

Essential oils are often overlooked when considering a home remedy for hair loss. Essential oils are highly concentrated and very economical to use; only a few drops are required. If you want to try a shampoo designed to improve hair growth and scalp condition, try this formula: to 100 ml of baby shampoo add 15 drops jojoba oil, 8 drops carrot oil, 7 drops rosemary oil, 7 drops lavender oil and 2 drops tea tree oil. For a stimulating lotion for the scalp, combine 10 ml vodka, 30 ml distilled water, 5 drops rosemary oil, 5 drops chamomile oil, and 5 drops lavender oil. Also try this weekly 30-minute treatment: 40 drops jojoba oil, 8 drops evening primrose oil,
2 drops geranium oil and 2 drops palma rosa.

There are many factors related to the cause of hair loss in woman. Over 30 million women in the US suffer from hair loss in one form or another. The main cause of hair loss in woman can be attributed to hormonal changes caused by pregnancy or menopause, or to genetics. In the case of pregnancy, the hair loss is almost always temporary and reverses on its own. On the other hand, hair loss during and after menopause has a complex set of genetic and hormonal interactions that make women as susceptible to hair loss as men.

When a woman begins to lose her hair, it’s often less noticeable than in a man. Men develop true bald spots at the temples, frontal hairline and crown. With the hormonal cause of hair loss in woman, the woman’s hair thins all over her head, but is especially noticeable just behind the frontal hairline in an oval pattern. Rarely are there actual bald spots. When an area on the scalp has lost about half of its hair, balding is more easily seen.

Click Here And Learn The Best Treatment For The Leading Cause Of Hair Loss In Woman!

Genetics also plays a major part in the cause of hair loss in woman. In fact, a combination of genetic and hormonal factors conspires to cause the most common type of hair loss in both men and women, androgenic alopecia. The genetic component involves an inherited sensitivity to the action of a specific hormone, dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This sensitivity extends to the hair follicles on the scalp. Even women have testosterone in their bodies, produced by the ovaries and adrenal glands. Testosterone in women is held in check by the balancing presence of estrogen. If anything that disrupts the estrogen level downward, like menopause, testosterone gets the upper hand. When an enzyme converts testosterone DHT, the cycle of hair loss begins in both women and men.

Remember those genetically sensitive hair follicles? DHT attacks them, causing the hair they produce to be thinner and thinner until eventually the follicles become inactive and stop growing hair. Hair begins to thin in classic male- or female-pattern-baldness. This cause of hair loss in woman (and man) is treatable. To counter the increased testosterone, a doctor may proscribe estrogen for a woman. This will restore the hormonal balance in the body so hair loss will slow or stop. Along with estrogen, a growth stimulator like minoxidil could be helpful. Minoxidil encourages the attacked follicles to begin producing hair again, even in the presence of DHT.

Two other prescription drugs may help with androgenic alopecia caused by estrogen deficiency and excessive testosterone production. Although they have FDA approval for uses other than hair loss, there is evidence they can be effective as testosterone blockers to eliminate the cause of hair loss in woman. The first drug is spironolactone, sold under the name AldactoneÒ. The second is finasteride, sold under the names PropeciaÒ and ProscarÒ. Although effective, these drugs can have a disastrous effect on a developing fetus, so they should not be taken by women who are pregnant or may become pregnant.

Androgenic alopecia, a major cause of hair loss in woman, is both a genetic and a hormonal disorder. Effective medical treatments exist. Investigate your options, then see your doctor. Together you can map out a strategy to combat (or even reverse) your hair loss.

Click Here To Better Understand Hair Loss Symptoms And What You Can Do To Stop It!
